Decoration 1 large historiated initial with full foliate borders including small figures, heraldic arms, and 3 small scenes in the lower margin, in colours and gold (f. 15). 4 large historiated initials with partial foliate borders, in colours and gold (ff. 8, 107v, 126v, 145). 7 large and small historiated initials with foliate extensions into the margins, in colours and gold (ff. 62v, 68v, 113v, 191, 199, 253, 280v). 2 large decorated initials with foliate extensions into the margins, including angels and dragons, in colours and gold (f. 321v (x2)). Large and small decorated initials with foliate extensions into the margins, in colours and gold. Large and small initials in red with blue pen-flourishing or in blue with red pen-flourishing. Capital letters highlighted in yellow.

Binding Post-1600. Gold-tooled brown leather binding; marbled endpapers; gilt edges.
Provenance Unidentified member of the Cornaro family of Venice: arms of parety per pale, or and azure, and the monogram 'I C' (f. 15); modern pencil note (3rd flyleaf [f. iii]).
Erased inscription (4th flyleaf [f. iv]).
? The Marquis Costabili [Comestabili] of Bologna, 18/19th? century: modern pencil note (3rd flyleaf [f. iii]).
Biblioteca nazionale di S. Marco, Venice, 18/19th century: book-plate (inside upper cover [f. i)].
Inscribed, 20th-century: 'To Darling Kaye with love from Harry. The second jewel' (2nd flyleaf [f. ii]).
Bought by the British Museum in 1942, using the Bridgewater fund (£12,000 bequeathed in in 1829 by Francis Henry Egerton, 8th Earl of Bridgewater (b. 1756, d. 1829).
Notes Note that the inscription 'Explicit de levita lapso. 1414' (f. 324v) and the date '1414' (f. 2v) are not in the hand of the scribe and may be a reader's note (see Watson 1979).
