Sir Hans Sloane (b. 1660, d. 1753), baronet, physician and collector: inscription 'Bibliothecae Sloaniana' (f. ii); contents note of Sloane library pasted onto paper flyleaf, with 'N. 234' cancelled, and 'XIV E' (f. i). Former shelfmarks (?): 'Min. 234' overwritten '156', cancelled (f. ii); 'MS 1830', cancelled (f. ii); and 'No. 711' (f. 1). Purchased as part of the Sloane collection from Sloane's executors and incorporated into the newly founded British Museum in 1753. |
