This is the report of a study of employers' human resource (HR) practices, designed to investigate how prepared they are for the pending UK legislation on age discrimination in the workplace. The project sought to establish:

  1. How aware employers are of age discrimination and the implications of the pending legislation;
  2. How important they think it is;
  3. How far current practices are conducive to age diversity;
  4. How far current practices are consistent with the proposed legislation;
  5. How far they are amenable to change.
