This King's Topographical Collection print was part of an album of fifty views of the Rhine published by Domenico Artaria. The plates were presented as a succession of the scenes travellers would be able to admire while sailing along the river. In this etching, four passengers are about to board a ferry-boat by the Rhine. The town of Rüdesheim am Rhein in Hesse with the church of Saint Jacob (Pfarrkirche St. Jakobus) and the ruins of Brömserburg Castle are depicted on the opposite bank, while nearby Bingen can be seen at distance. Ziegler and Janscha collaborated again in an album of hand-coloured views of Vienna also published by Artaria.
