The purpose of the BEIS Business Support Evaluation Framework is to:

  • Ensure good quality evaluations are produced, by establishing minimum standards for evaluating business support interventions, and providing transparency on quality standards;
  • Ensure comparability across evaluations of business support interventions through standardising quality, data collection, and reporting; and
  • Allow new ideas to be explored, to identify the most effective policy ideas and to share findings on what works, leading to the wider adoption of more effective policies.

This framework is intended to assist policy makers, analysts, evaluators and delivery bodies to understand what standards are expected and to maximise comparability across different programmes.
