This report, the third in a series of four from the Enhancing Value Taskforce of the Council for Industry and Higher Education (CIHE) (now the National Centre for Universities and Business), is based on interviews with 71 senior representatives from large and small firms, universities, government/regulators and charities. It explores the challenges and opportunities involved in the creation of value through collaboration. Focusing on four different sectors – construction, energy, pharmaceuticals and the converged creative, digital and IT industry – it reveals the different innovation needs within and across these industries and highlights the main challenges to collaborative innovation that the UK faces.
