This engraving, dating from 1761, depicts London's original Westminster Bridge. The bridge was built between 1739-50, connecting Westminster and Lambeth. It famously forms the title of William Wordsworth's poem, 'Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802', a moving description of the beauties of London viewed from the River Thames at dawn.
