The essays in this collection examine the barriers to investment and propose new incentives to address housing shortages in the South and underinvestment in areas of deprivation in the North. It examines public-private finance and housing policy, and draws on past experience from the UK and the US to debate the use of more localised policy tools.  The authors consider the chequered history of tax breaks and discuss the demand for a more sophisticated and market-sensitive approach to social investment and financing regeneration.
