This is an independent review of two, separate, independent reviews previously commissioned by the Home Office's Permanent Secretary. It was conducted by Peter Wanless, the Chief Executive Officer of the NSPCC, and Richard Whittam, a barrister in independent practice.One report examine what the Home Office knew and did about cases of organised child abuse over a 20-year period ending in 1999. The second looked specifically at whether the Home Office had ever given grant funding to the Paedophile Information Exchange.
