This toolkit is intended to assist faiths in community development action. It is the intention of this kit to empower the user rather than offer generalised solutions. The toolkit explores: ideology, ethos and belief; the distinctive characteristics of faith-based community development; the public policy context; partnerships; leadership; people and participation; resources, such as finance, buildings and ICT; and, reflection, evaluation and reflective practice. Much of the content of the kit has been developed from a series of seminars, which sought to learn first hand what practitioners need and to try out methods for creating a safe but structured environment in which to explore the motivating factors underpinning practice, and the issues that arise. The toolkit is accompanied by a report which presents evidence demonstrating the value of faiths in community development.
