Description

Leaflet advertising Clowes & Tiller's Marionettes performing Maria Martin or The Murder in the Red Barn, and the New Comic Pantomime, possibly published late 19th century. Marionettes were regular fairground entertainment, and the story of Maria Martin's infamous murder became a touring staple. This item comes from the V&A's George Speaight Punch & Judy Collection.
