This policy analysis outlines the key elements of the Giving white paper, published on 23 May 2011, and a range of recommendations. The white paper outlines the Government’s strategy for giving and the Government’s proposals to increase the rates of giving and the numbers of people that give. There are many ideas presented in the white paper and it signals the Government’s clear intent to increase the levels of giving in the UK. This policy analysis makes several recommendations under various headings including: focus and clarity, including around funding practices; tackling barriers; evidence; impact; and joined up policy making.
