This is a poster for the 1958 British film Dracula, an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel of the same name. The film was directed by Terence Fisher and starred Christopher Lee in the title role. Other main roles were played by Peter Cushing, Michael Cough, Melissa Stribling and Carol Marsh. The film was a critical and commercial success.
There have been numerous films based on Stoker’s novel. Two of the earliest, and most famous, are the silent film Nosferatu (1922) and the 1931 Dracula starring Bela Lugosi. The Fisher-directed Dracula was released in America under the title Horror of Dracula to avoid confusion with the earlier Lugosi adaptation.
