This report considers the role of faiths in community development. It is intended for policy makers, non-faith based community development actors and faith communities themselves. The report explores what faiths do, the scale of their contribution to community development, and the impacts of such contributions. The challenges and opportunities faced by faith groups engaged in community development are also explored in order to establish what conditions allow such action to flourish. Finally, the report also looks at what is distinctive about faith based community development, and what the faith dimension adds. The report is accompanied by a toolkit designed to support faith based community development.
