This document offers an invitation to an open meeting of the ACMD on the problems confronting older drug users. The aim of the Working Group is:

  •  to estimate the current size of this population and make projections for future demographics and needs for it over a 10 and 20 year period;
  •  to look at service needs beyond specialist treatment service to include physical and mental health and social care needs, and
  • to formulate recommendations to improve policy and practice responses for this group of users.
