On the model of the Canadian Government in its 1995 Budget, the Reform Budget aims to reduce around seven-eighths of the deficit through spending reductions and one-eighth through tax rises. The policies set out to achieve this in the Audit of government spending section are based on the principles of government outlined in the Economic and fiscal strategy section. The table below summarises the key policy decisions and themes.
