This Soviet propaganda poster shows the retreating White Army burning the barns and crops of the local peasants. The White officer who presides over the burning and the priest who stands behind him, blessing his actions, are portrayed as plump and well-fed in contrast with the wretched, starving peasants whose food supply is being destroyed.

Around 2,000,000 people were victims of the so called Red and White Terrors – atrocities that both sides frequently emphasised in their propaganda.
