Spare Rib magazine issue 069

Description

During the 1970s, feminists drew attention to sexism in advertising and in the mainstream press generally. Spare Rib regularly encouraged readers to send in examples of sexist advertisements or articles and printed them in its ‘Tooth and Nail’ section, or on the magazine’s news pages. These excerpts often exposed some pretty shocking examples of misogyny in our society at the time.
