The importance of bereavement services was highlighted in the ‘End of Life Care Strategy’, which set out recommendations to support delivery of high quality care for all people approaching the end of life, and their families and carers. Statutory organisations have a responsibility to ensure that information and practical and emotional support is available to people who are bereaved. Voluntary organisations and volunteers also offer important services to people who are bereaved. This guidance is to support statutory and voluntary organisations to develop services for this important group.
