Winston Levy, a passenger on board the Empire Windrush, brought with him this shirt to remind him of Jamaica. It took Levy and his twin brother almost a month to sail to Britain as the ship picked up passengers from other ports in the Caribbean, Mexico and Bermuda en route. At home Winston had worked as a clerk for Tate & Lyle; in London he found a job with the Post Office.
Winston Levy is the father of novelist Andrea Levy.
