A briefing gives the Fawcett Society's hopes and demands for the Budget in 2012. It briefly describes the economic impact of austerity policies on women and calls for five specific actions by the government: reinstating ring-fencing for the funding of Sure Start centres via local government, ring-fencing funding for services against violence against women, restoring Child Benefit to its previous value plus inflation from 2014, restoring support for childcare costs for low-income families to 2011 levels, and producing a full gender equalities impact assessment for the Budget.
