This is one of Leighton's most delightful and energetic designs. The gold stars at each corner of the upper cover have arms, legs and faces blocked in relief. The clock also has a 'face' blocked in relief, and the pendulum and weights are most ingeniously conceived, with the weights at the bottom pressing upon a book which has one of the 'little folks' trapped between its pages. |
