Carl Magnus Palm in conversation with Kit Green.

This event will take place at the British Library Entrance Hall. It will be simultaneously live streamed on the British Library platform. Tickets may be booked either to attend in person (physical), or to watch on our platform (online) either live or within 48 hours on catch up. Viewing links will be sent out shortly before the event.

Following last year’s album, after an almost 40-year break, and on the eve of the launch ABBA's new ‘live’ Voyage show in London, we celebrate one of the best-loved bands in pop music history.

Join two fans who have incorporated their intense passion for the band into their work.

Carl Magnus Palm is ABBA’s official unofficial historian. Kit Green created the live theatre shows ABBAration and Pop Junkie, and the BBC Radio 4 drama Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, about a life-changing meeting with Frida. Together they will reflect on turning fandom into study and creative output, as well as using research and archive to create something new. There will be lots of opportunities to ask Carl Magnus questions about ABBA to a level of precision to excite the most die-hard fan. Above all, the evening will act as a chance to enjoy the group’s glorious return to the heart of popular culture.

19.00 – 19.30 Doors open

Grab a drink and enjoy a curated playlist of lesser-known tracks, chilled vibes and deep cuts from one of the world’s super groups

19.30 – 21.00 Kit Green and Carl Magnus in conversation

21.00 – 21.30 A chance to singalong to your favourites and relive the soundtrack to some of your best memories. The evening draws to a close with a specially selected playlist of ABBA’s greatest hits from Kit Green.

Carl Magnus Palm has published many books on the group and is currently researching his latest using the Library’s collections. He is the man the members of the group call when they cannot remember something about their own lives.

Kit Green is a non-binary artist whose work covers theatre, music, cabaret, broadcast and academia. They were the British Library’s first Artist in Residence and the author of Overpowered! The Science and Showbiz of Hypnosis (BL Publications) writing as Christopher Green.

If you’re attending in person, please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start time of this event. We are committed to the safety of our event bookers. Find out how we are welcoming you to the Library safely
