In conversation with Martha Lane Fox.
This is an in-person only event in the British Library Piazza Pavilion.
Toronto-born and LA-based science fiction author, activist and journalist Cory Doctorow is one of the most vital voices of our age: provocative, tech savvy and inspiring. At this event in conversation with technology entrepreneur and philanthropist Martha Lane Fox he introduces his new eye-opening thriller about cryptocurrency shenanigans.
Marty Hench is the most accomplished forensic accountant in town, an expert on the international money-laundering and ghost-company chicanery used by billionaires, oligarchs, and international drug cartels alike. Now he’s on the trail of a stolen key, one that unlocks an illicit backdoor to billions in crypto. It's a job that’s more dangerous than anything he’s ever agreed to before – Marty’s adversaries are implacable criminal sadists who will spill oceans of blood to get what they want. More used to being on the attack, he’ll now have to play defence and every ounce of his skill.
'Doctorow's novels are always feasts for the imagination and the intellect, and this one is no exception: it’s jam-packed with cutting edge ideas about cybersecurity and crypto, and its near-future world is lovingly detailed and completely believable.' Booklis
