Is it really possible to cook cheaply and responsibly? Food writer, journalist and activist Jack Monroe knows first-hand what it's like to live in food poverty. Join Jack in conversation with investigative food journalist and food poverty campaigner Joanna Blythman as they explore questions of food and social responsibility today.

Jack Monroe is a British food writer, journalist and activist known for campaigning on poverty issues, particularly hunger relief. Monroe has published a blog and several books of 'austerity recipes', and has campaigned alongside various British charity organisations. Monroe initially rose to prominence for writing a blog titled A Girl Called Jack (now renamed Cooking on a Bootstrap), and has since written for publications such as The Echo, The Huffington Post, The Guardian, and The New Yorker. Jack's books include A Girl Called Jack: 100 Delicious Budget Recipes and A Year in 120 Recipes.

Joanna Blythman is an award-winning investigative journalist and the author of seven landmark books on food issues including Swallow This: Serving Up the Food Industry's Darkest Secrets and What to Eat: Food That’s Good for Your Health, Pocket and Plate. Her writing covers a broad sweep of subjects, encompassing topics as diverse as food poverty, supermarket domination, the environmental impact of salmon farming, the validity of healthy eating advice, farm animal cloning, and the causes of food price rises and obesity.
