Let Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms: Art, Word, War and the unique collections at the British Library inspire your creative writing. Craft your own fiction inspired by the Anglo-Saxon world, and the exhibition’s precious books and artefacts. Learn the fundamentals of creative writing: how to create strong characters, rich settings, powerful voices, and more.

Anglo-Saxon texts, such as Beowulf and the Exeter Book, are rich with drama and detail. Draw on these, alongside treasures such as finds from the Staffordshire Hoard, throughout a series of exercises designed to enhance all aspects of your creative writing. Plus, learn about the influence of Anglo-Saxon on our modern vocabulary, and how to harness this in your fiction.
