Join Phillipa Vincent-Connolly as she talks to Rebecca Rideal about her new book Disability and the Tudors, and explores the treatment of disabled and infirm people during the Tudor era. She guides us through the social, religious, cultural and ruling classes’ response to disability as it was perceived during the sixteenth century.

Phillipa Vincent-Connolly is a historian and writer who has written both historical fiction and non-fiction and is currently working towards a PhD in History, specialising in disability during theTudor era . Among her many interests is a deep and abiding love for all things historical: archives, artefacts, architecture, corsetry, fashion, and royalty. Phillipa is also a keen activist, wanting untold disabled voices of the past to be heard, by bringing them into the mainstream. Being disabled with cerebral palsy, Phillipa has an interest in disability equality.

Rebecca Rideal is a historian, TV & podcast producer and the author of 1666: Plague, War and Hellfire and the forthcoming God’s Throne: The Rise, Fall and Revolution of the Stuarts, 1603–1714. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the founder and director of history festival HistFest..
