Led by Paul Garside (British Library) and Caroline Bendix ACR (Independent Conservator) this training day builds an understanding of what dust is and why its management is important. It explores low-cost methods of monitoring dust and dirt and discusses methods of preventing its buildup. The day includes practical sessions on how to clean books and stack areas. It provides steps to follow when setting up a housekeeping programme and highlights what to think about if you are considering involving volunteers.

The British Library has collaborated with West Dean College to deliver a programme of study days in preservation and collection care for libraries. The programme focuses on Continued Professional Development and is aimed at professionals, conservation students and others interested in furthering their skills in this area. This study day is suitable for anyone with any involvement with, or responsibility for care of libraries, archives and collections.
