Inspired by our exhibition Breaking The News, this two-day course at the British Library uses newspapers and print media as a starting point to explore a variety of experimental printmaking techniques. After visiting the exhibition, we’ll begin by using recycled and unusual materials to respond to its key themes, and later moving on to mono print, block printing with lino and mixed media.

Making use of these printmaking techniques, we’ll experiment with text, lettering, collage and zine-making to create a final piece. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, this course will immerse you in discussions about how we individually and collectively respond to news media.

This course will run across the following dates:

  • Saturday 29 October 2022, 10.30 – 17.00
  • Sunday 30 October 2022, 10.30 – 17.00
