Travel with us to the coast through music, art and sound
Workshop 1: 10.30 – 12.00
Workshop 2: 13.00 – 14.30
Join artist Helen Rousseau and Musician Paul Rubinstein to play, create and explore all the wonderful sounds of the coast as we explore some of the sounds in our collection.
Create your own boat costume while listening to sea shanties from our Sound Archive. Sing along with the songs before writing your very own. Once initiated you’ll then be ready to join our boat choir and set sail!
Following this you’ll be invited to travel underwater and listen to the sounds of the sea. Relax and have fun as you move to our soundscapes, or have a go drawing what you hear. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own percussion instrument and join the chorus.
Suitable for ages 5+ (one ticket per person)
If you feel unwell, or anyone in your household is showing symptoms of COVID-19, please don’t come to the Library, and let us know by emailing FamilyLearning@bl.uk. Due to the popularity of these events, this will also allow us give your ticket to someone on our waiting list.
We’ve made some changes to keep everyone safe during this event:
- Limited numbers and activities set up to support social distancing
- Regular enhanced cleaning of the spaces and equipment, and hand sanitiser stations for everyone to use
- Adults and children over 11 will need to wear a face covering unless exempt.
