Discover distinctive new ideas and stories from Indigenous writers from around the world

Global Voices is a theatre project working with international playwrights to share new rehearsed readings. They join forces with the ORIGINS bi-annual Festival of First Nations to present Global Indigenous Voices.

Curated by Mohegan theatre-maker Madeline Sayet, the evening features excerpts from five plays by Indigenous writers from around the world, and a post performance discussion about the plays and the themes unearthed.

The plays are:

Bingo Hall by Dillon Chitto (Laguna and Isleta Pueblos, Mississippi Choctaw - USA) directed by Mariana Aristizabal
Where the Summit Meets the Stars by Frank Henry Kaash Katasse (Tlingít - Tsaagweidí - Juneau, Alaska, U.S.A.) directed by Sani Muliaumaseali'i
Women of the Fur Trade  by Frances Koncan (Couchiching First Nation - Canada) directed by Bethany Wilkinson
The Unplugging by Yvette Nolan (Algonquin Nation, Kitigan Zibi community - Québec, Canada) directed by Raphael Ruiz
The Third Country written and directed by Sani Muliaumaseali'i (Samoa - Vaiala/Fasitoo-uta/Pu'aPu'a New Zealand / Aotearoa -Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland)

Global Indigenous Voices expands the reach of ORIGINS to engage with emerging playwrights and distinct new voices; offering a forum for open discussion about current issues and the role of the arts within global debate.

Join the adventure.
