A guide to using British Library market research sources to find information on your business sector.

How do I research my market?

This practical workshop will show you how to use essential market research databases to find out all you need to know about a particular sector.

Every business needs to understand their target market. This includes knowing the size of the sector, current trends, innovations and who your competitors are. This workshop will take you through key information sources available for free in the Business & IP Centre. It will cover practical examples of finding relevant information from databases such as Mintel, YouGov and Passport.

It will also cover essential field research to complement published market research. Find out what your customers think about your particular brand and product or service. You will also look at how to engage with customers to find out what they really think, instead of the answers they think you want to hear.

The session will end with hands-on experience of searching the Business & IP Centre databases with help from the workshop presenter.
