Course dates: Mondays 27 January and 3, 10, 17, 24 February and 2 March 18.00 – 20.00

Inspired by our exhibition, Marvellous and Mischievous: Literature’s Young Rebels, this six-week illustration course guides you through the fundamentals of figurative illustration and character design. Learn how to draw faces and bodies, capture different emotions, expressions and personalities and depict characters in different poses and scenarios. Throughout the course we take direct inspiration from your favourite children’s stories, as well as the illustrations displayed in our exhibition.

Our tutor, Sion Ap Tomos, shares advice and tips through a variety of carefully created, hands-on exercises designed to improve your practical skills and knowledge whilst encouraging you to imaginatively explore character design and narrative illustration. So whether you’re a beginner or have some illustration/drawing experience, get ready to blow a raspberry at authority and create your own marvellous characters.
