In these interrelated digital resources, learners investigate the work of the late Gambian-British artist Khadija Saye. Saye’s powerful and evocative photographic self-portraits, Dwelling: in this space we breathe present a unique opportunity to explore themes of art, identity and self. Through both discursive and creative activities, learners build confidence in analysing and interpreting visual work and in articulating individual responses and perspectives.

There are three pathways through these materials, each supporting a different subject areas. Teachers’ notes guide you through the activities and are accompanied by student notes. These can be given direct to learners or used as the basis of a lesson plan.
