Ghana meets the UK at the British Library
Following last October’s fabulous Felabration!, the British Library presents another pulsating night of music, culture and food. Playing a full live set will be the incredible Ghanaian duo FOKN Bois - Wanlov the Kubolor and fellow emcee M3NSA - who trade politically charged and seriously irreverent lyrics on afro reggae and hip hop beats – and are acclaimed worldwide for their legendary pidgin musical movies Cos Ov Moni.
They are joined by brilliant Brixton based band Yaaba Funk with their infectious highlife-led dance grooves. A thrilling mix of guitar, percussion and brass, and the compelling vocals of Richmond Kessie and Helen McDonald.
On the decks will be Ghanaian-born DJ, Volta45, playing his distinctive mix of afro funk, jazz, highlife and afro-influenced sounds from across the world.
Plus a special set by Larry Achiampong, DJ and artist and current Sound & Music Embedded composer in residence at the British Library. Entry to our West Africa: Word, Symbol, Song is included in the ticket price. Food on the night by Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen.
