Beethoven’s significance transcends music to embrace politics, philosophy, education and marketing. This online course offers an introduction to the man, his world, his music sketches, and his musical development, concluding with a reflection on his immense importance for future generations. Led by writer and broadcaster Dr Katy Hamilton, this session explores the centrality of the piano in his life and, with accessible music examples, examines how he revolutionised musical form.
This course takes place on Zoom and we will email you a joining link the day before. There will be an opportunity to ask tutor Dr Katy Hamilton questions throughout, as well as have conversations with your fellow participants in the virtual breakout rooms.
