What is news? How are headlines written? Discover the basics of journalism at this introductory online short course. We will learn about news values and why they’re important, how to find and make use of reliable sources, and how and why headlines are written. You’ll also learn how the British Library can be used as a resource for your writing and research.

This course takes place on Zoom and we will email you a joining link the day before. You will also receive a pre-course task which will help you have fruitful conversations with your fellow participants in virtual breakout rooms. There will also be an opportunity to ask the tutor Mhairi Campbell questions during a Q&A.
