Michael Palin talks about his life’s work so far

From flying circus to flying around the world, Joan Bakewell meets Michael Palin – actor, comedian, writer, television presenter and traveller – to discuss the Life of Michael and celebrate the generous donation of his archive to the British Library. 

One of the best-loved figures in British culture, Michael has brought charm, wit and intelligence to everything he’s done, and this special event will reflect on his many achievements in his long and successful career.  

Michael Palin has donated his personal archive to the British Library. It covers his literary and creative life between 1965 – 1987 and includes over  50 ‘Python Notebooks’ containing drafts, working material and personal reflections relating to Palin’s Monty Python writing. It also includes his personal diaries kept during this period, and project files comprising material relating to his film, television and literary work, including correspondence, drafts and annotated scripts relating to subsequent Python projects.
