Harry Potter is just one example of a book series that has evolved and diversified across art forms and media. Join actor Noma Dumezweni, the first to play Hermione on stage in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Adam Fulrath, Head of Creative at Pottermore, as they discuss the ways in which books can travel beyond our shelves.

Noma Dumezweni is a renowned English actor with a South African heritage. Her impressive acting career has seen her starring in a number of acclaimed productions. 

Dumezweni, who won an Olivier Award for her outstanding performance in a supporting role for A Raisin in the Sun (Young Vic), has appeared in Carmen Disruption (Almeida), Linda, Belong (Royal Court), and Feast (Young Vic). The Bogus Woman (RedRoom/Traverse/Bush theatres) - Fringe First award winner, and MEN award winner for a solo show. 

She made her directorial debut with South African play I See You (Royal Court). For her role as Hermione in Harry Potter and The Cursed Child (Palace Theatre) Dumezweni won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She will reprise the role on Broadway next year.

Dumezweni has recently featured in short films such as The Egg and the Thieving Pie to Disney’s American musical fantasy Mary Poppins Returns and Stephen Frears immigrant-focused drama Dirty Pretty Things. Dumezweni will next appear in Channel 4’s upcoming series Phillip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams and the BBC's The Forgiving Earth.
