Join Kavita Puri and Kirsty Wark in discussion

Dotted across homes in Britain are people who were witnesses to one of the most tumultuous events of the twentieth century. Yet their memory of India's partition has been shrouded in silence.

Interweaving audio recordings from the British Library's Sound Archive with discussion, Kavita Puri and Kirsty Wark consider why these stories are only just emerging now, partition's enduring legacy in Britain today, and the power of giving witness.

In 2017 Kavita Puri devised and presented the three part BBC Radio 4 series Partition Voices which documented the untold stories of Colonial British and British Asians who lived through the Partition of India 70 years ago, and assessed its legacy in Britain today. She discusses her new book Partition Voices, based on her research into these hidden stories.
