Produce your own protest craft.

Course dates: Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April 10.30 – 17.00
Inspired by our exhibition Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women’s Rights, this weekend course will give you the opportunity to learn a variety of crafting techniques and incorporate a message of protest. Craft - often perceived as the poor relation to ‘high art’- has given disenfranchised people a visual platform from which to promote change. We will explore stitch and embroidery techniques inspired by brooches and rosettes of the women’s suffrage movement, as well as printmaking inspired by the symbols of activists such as the women of Greenham Common. Over the weekend we will explore the important connections between craft and protest, whilst learning new creative skills in production of your own crafted items to take home.
