Writing with a quill on vellum (calfskin) is a heritage craft that has been practised by scribes for centuries.
To mark London Craft Week, spend the day learning how to write Gothic Black Letter from medieval times, then cut a quill from a feather from a swan’s wing, and finally write a name with the quill on a piece of vellum you have prepared yourself.
This one-day course is taught by world-renowned professional calligraphy and illuminator, Patricia Lovett MBE, and is open to beginners and those with experience of calligraphy.
