Virginia Madsen explores the history of radio documentary using recordings discovered in the Library

Dr Virginia Madsen on the “documentary imagination in radio: emerging from the British Library’s Radio Archive collections and other audio-visionary encounters”.

Madsen explores through rarely heard audio examples the ‘other history of the documentary’ in radio using BBC documentary and features re-discovered by Madsen in the Library’s collections, as well as international work from key historical centres of documentary radio production. The vexed question of what is a feature will also be re-examined.
