Take a fresh look at the Tudor period with our one day festival.

This event will take place in the British Library Theatre. Separate sessions will also be simultaneously live streamed on the British Library platform.

Book here for full day tickets to attend in-person only.

Tickets to watch separate sessions online are available.

The Tudor period was about so much more than kings, queens and royal scandal. In this special day of talks and discussions we delve into rich alternative histories of the Tudor period to explore England in a global context, unravel the symbolism of jewels and restrictive sumptuary laws, highlight the Black presence in England, investigate often obscured LGBT+ histories and detail how mobility and movement across the known world shaped perceptions of humanity.

This event is part of TudorFest and produced in association with HistFest.

If you’re attending in person, please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start time of this event. We are committed to the safety of our event bookers. Click here to find out how we are welcoming you to the Library safely.
