Presentations and panel discussions examine interdisciplinary approaches to investigating urban space

How does the temporal dimension influence practices of urban place-making? What happens to our perception of urban space when we look at it both forwards and backwards in time? How can time-based media be used to challenge linear notions of time?

Following the success of two previous events, researchers and practitioners from across the humanities and social sciences come together to discuss contemporary concerns within visual urbanism in the third annual conference of the International Association of Visual Urbanists. An emphasis is placed on innovative methods within current urban research relating to the arts, humanities and social sciences.

The conference will comprise presentations and panel discussions examining interdisciplinary approaches to investigating urban space and its temporalities. A keynote talk will be given by Professor Michael Keith (Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), University of Oxford). The event will include a short film festival showcasing work by artists and researchers exploring urban space through moving images and sound.

Refreshments, a sandwich lunch and wine reception are included in the ticket price.

Presented in association with Urban Photo Fest and Goldsmiths, University of London
