Read the course outline (pdf)
Both Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I when she was younger had good handwriting and distinctive signatures evident in a number of documents in our exhibition, Elizabeth and Mary: Royal Cousins, Rival Queens. In this webinar, professional scribe and illuminator Patricia Lovett MBE will consider the scripts of these cousins and monarchs, discussing the changes to writing styles, decoration and illumination that were shown in manuscripts around the time of their reigns, and the lasting legacy that we have today as a result.
This webinar takes place on Zoom and the joining link will be emailed to you the day before. The talk will not be recorded and is only available on the date and time stated.
Live-subtitles will be provided by Stagetext.
