What next for my business idea?
In this first full-day webinar workshop you’ll get invaluable insights into using local borough libraries' and the British Library Business & IP Centre’s resources to conduct research for your new business, learn how to protect - and continue protecting - your intellectual property and develop a strategic roadmap for your business.
Session 1: What next for my business idea? (10.00 - 13.00)
In the first part of the day, you will hear from our in-borough Business Champions on the resources available in boroughs to help you progress with your business research, even from home. Our Business & IP Centre Reference team will then cover:
- How you can plan you research, using tools like the Business Model Canvas and Value Proposition Canvas
- Different research sources and methods, including field research, customer development and Minimum Viable Product
- Information sources at the British Library's BIPC.
Session 2: How to Protect a Business Idea (14.00 - 17.00)
In the second session, we will start to delve into what is unique in your business and how you can protect it and make money from it in the future. We will cover:
- Registered Designs
- Know-how and Trade Secrets
Your business will definitely have some form of intellectual property, whether it is in the design, name, logo, brand or the product itself, so this a crucial stage in the success of your business. We will also cover other sources of IP support available at the British Library.
Throughout the session there will be generous breaks and time for questions.
The next webinars will take place on the following dates:
