Explore historical worlds and characters through creative writing
Join our two-day masterclass to learn and practice techniques for historical fiction writing. Alongside a trip to our Newsroom for story inspiration, we will use our digitized collections and writing exercises to develop complex characters and engaging settings.
With our expert tutor, novelist and academic, Dr Yvonne Battle-Felton, you’ll gain an understanding of how questions can be used to develop engaging stories that you want to read and write, and that your characters want to tell. You’ll discuss using research to inspire fiction, from plotting your narrative to planning your writing.
You’ll practice writing character sketches based on character interviews, begin writing scenes, and have the opportunity to share your writing with your peers and receive feedback to help develop the story you want to write.
