For visitors who are blind or partially sighted

Join us as we take you on an audio-described tour of our exhibition Writing: Making Your Mark and discover the extraordinary evolution behind one of humankind’s greatest achievements.

Follow the remarkable evolution of writing from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs carved in stone and early printed text such as William Caxton’s edition of The Canterbury Tales, to the art of note-taking by some of history’s greatest minds, and onwards to the digital communication tools we use today.

This tour is suitable for blind and partially-sighted visitors. The tour is co-delivered by an audio describer and a curator.

Please meet at the Information Desk in the Entrance Hall 15 minutes before the start time.

One free ticket for a companion is available per visitor. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome. If you require any other support, or have other access requirements for this tour, please contact outreach@bl.uk or phone +44 (0)20 7412 7797.

The tour is free with an exhibition ticket.
