Over the last 1000 years, practitioners of Zen Buddhism have developed a distinct and dynamic style of brushwork calligraphy. The Japanese term bokuseki, 'ink traces', refers to the way that the mind-state of the calligrapher is expressed intensely and directly through the brush.

Led by Noriko Yamasaki, this one-day course explores a unique system of Zen body-mind practice, which heightens and energises the practitioner’s presence and allows this vitality to manifest visually on paper. At the end of the day you can also visit the exhibition, Buddhism, and take your calligraphy pieces home.
